Test Technician

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Test, evaluation, maintenance and calibration of electronic equipment

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Test equipment against defined procedures compiling results and generating summary reports.
Investigate and diagnose faults on equipment to component level, updating associated defect records.
Undertake routine maintenance of operational equipment against defined procedures.
Calibrate equipment against defined procedures providing calibration certificates for all items.
Undertake Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) of group holdings.
Maintain test benches and associated hardware and equipment.
Manufacture small scale mechanical/electrical assemblies as and when required.
Assist the engineering team in the Lab as required in system construction and evaluation
Hand modification and re work of PCBs using surface mount components down to 0402 size.
Maintenance of equipment status through the Asset Management System.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Education, Qualifications and Training:
Full, clean driving licence
Appropriate qualification in basic electronics (HNC/ONC/NVQ/BND) or demonstrable equivalent experience

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Experience in diagnosing/repairing electronic/electrical equipment faults
Computer skills with respect to spreadsheets and word processing packages
Use of electronics diagnostics tools (mutlimeters, oscilloscopes)
Experience in surface mount component replacement
