Test Systems Support Engineer/Technical Author

Test Systems Support Engineer/Technical author required by leading Aerospace organisation in Cheltenham. This is an initial 6 month contract which is like to be extended to 12 months.

Role:

The Test Systems Engineer will be responsible for investigating and resolving engineering issues with Test Systems. The successful candidate will be capable diagnosing and repairing test system failures as well as implementing design changes. The role requires handling of multiple tasks and the ability to respond to changing priorities whilst still delivering against task completion commitments.

Essential Responsibilities

- Rapid response to equipment failures
- Technical investigation
- Implementing immediate repairs
- Scoping and progressing longer term solutions
- Closing out new and ongoing Corrective Actions
- Software and hardware design changes
- Drawings and documentation updates
- Scoping work for outsource suppliers

Qualifications/Requirements

- Proactive self starter
- Good problem solving skills
- Understanding of Maintenance and Manufacturing organisations
- Experience/knowledge of electrical and electronics hardware and software design activities
- Electrical/Electronic qualification (minimum HNC or equivalent)
- Planning and task management skills
- Good communication skills
- Competent in PC hardware/software systems and repair
- PC literate in Word and Excel, and understanding of propriety GE tools such as WDS, Oracle and CMIS would be advantageous

Desired Characteristics

- Electronic/Electrical/Barometric/Mechanical support experience
- Technical knowledge of Test Systems hardware and software
