Test Manager, Istqb (Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse)

Proteus Europe is searching for a Test Manager with ideally a background in with Data Warehousing or Business Intelligence field for one of our clients in Belgium.

Our Client:-
You will be working with an important public sector EU government body that provides services across the EU Union. They pride themselves on their public service to the whole European community.

Your New role:-

We are looking for a seasoned Test Manager/Coach with experience in the BI domain. You will need to be pragmatic, out of the box thinking solution bringer. We foresee an assessment period of 3 weeks in which you should deliver a SWOT analysis and action plan. In run-mode we believe a 2 day per week on-site presence would be suitable/required (the latter to be revised after delivery of the action plan).

1) Test Data
We need a - clever- selection mechanism of test data in our - prod- environment. Our BI systems operate in 2 steps. First the data is loaded from the several and different source systems into staging tables. After this pre-loaded data is normalized and loaded in the data warehouse. Since our test environment is limited in size we cannot pre-load all - production- data. We therefore need a clever selection mechanism of test data to be migrated to our limited test environment guaranteeing good test coverage. This mechanism must further be automatable as we have regular data refreshes re-initializing our test environment.
Next to this mechanism we needs guidance on how to analyse the business requirements vs the cardinality of the - production- data in order to appropriately define the test data requirements.

2) Test Project Lifecycle
The integration, functional and user acceptance tests are not fully aligned in a streamlined and governed test process specifically tailored to our BI department. In order to further approve test maturity we require a BI Test Project Lifecycle. This needs to contain a standard test approach, prioritized features to test, roles and organization, test levels, planning, test scope, resources, agreed delivery conditions, governance structure, quality gates, .

3) Coaching and Day-To-Day Test Management
Today the developers and functional analysts are performing the test tasks. We are not looking to integrate dedicated testers. We want to coach our developers and functional analysts improving there testing skills. We are looking for a seasoned coach to mainly work on the following aspects: How to create and structure a good test plan, How to guarantee good test coverage. He/she should lead by example during a number of POCs we will set-up.
After the evaluation of these POC we want a roll-out through a - Train the Trainer- dynamic. He/she should help/train the pioneers of the POC becoming ambassadors of an improved way of testing.
We use Quality Centre as Test Management tool. The Test Manager would work closely together with the Test Competence Centre. Following the TCC template automated reporting would be possible.

Your Skills and experience:-

Essential Skills:-
- Test Manager
- ISTQB Foundation (CTFL)
- Advanced ISTQB Test Manager or Expert Test Manager (CTAL/CTEL)
- Software development technologies and life cycle models

Desirable Skills:-
- Quality Centre (all modules) - HP Quality Centre 9.0 CPM
- Project Management training/certification (PMP/PMBOK or equivalent)
- Worked on projects using PowerCenter on Oracle and Sybase
- Functional knowledge of the - application under test- and the concerned business processes as well as non-functional/technical/architecture
- knowledge of application under test
- Functional and non-functional test skills (for different test levels and test types) ie reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, portability, install and deployment
- Ideally trilingual (NL/FR/EN)
