Test Equipment Software Design Engineer - Aerospace

A leading Aerospace & Defence company is seeking Test Equipment Software Design & Developer Engineers in Gloucestershire. The successful candidate will have experience of TE (test equipment) design, development, and hardware/software integration, knowledge of PC based test architecture (ie PCI, VXI, etc.) and a high level of knowledge of high level software languages, principally Borland C++ is preferable.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and prepare software to be integrated and commissioned with Test Equipment hardware and UUT's in collaboration with Project Hardware Engineers.
- Develop flexible design solutions which are appropriate and scalable to end user requirements.
- Verification and subsequent pro-active modification, during test equipment and test item integration.
- Re-use of tried and tested modules, coupled with innovative design solutions where re-use is not appropriate with a view to future code re-use.
- Design and develop test equipment software to production standards, complying with all current regulatory and safety requirements.
- Generation of documentation suites for software development from original requirements through to formal release procedures whilst adhering to company processes and procedures.

The Person

Skills & Experience

- Experience of C++ preferably used in development of test software for avionics products, preferably within Borland Developer Suite, within a configured industry environment.
- Experience of debugging and integrating test software on a windows based test platform in conjunction with UUT hardware.
- Experience of designing and writing C++ software in a Windows environment to control test hardware (PSU, DMM, Multiplexers, serial communications etc).
- Experience of translating complex avionics test requirements into application Software.
- Working in a safe and compliant manner on high voltage systems.
- Knowledge of configuration management systems and life cycle control.

Qualifications & Knowledge

- Software or electronics degree qualification (or qualified through experience) with experience of configured industry test equipment and hardware/software integration using C++.
- Knowledge of PC based test architecture (ie PCI, VXI, GPIB, LXI, etc).
- Ability to "close-out" issues and deliver complete solutions.
