Test Engineer

The contract is with a large consultancy to be on assignment in Den Haag. The client is currently seeking a Test Engineer to assist in testing a business-critical ICT solution to provide information exchange and collaboration capabilities. This will be implemented using Back End web services and has a web Front End based on .NET.

TASKS:

-Taking the lead and advising on the test analysis, design and execution of specific parts related to a new functionality, as well as performing automated regression testing (including functional and technical testing) based on the existing specifications and the high level technical architecture. Consultant will be using several testing tools including HP Quality Center
-Writing and maintaining test scripts for manual and automated testing;
-Creating representative test data;

The consultant will liaise with and inform the technical manager responsible for the development of the project regarding the status and progress of the tasks set out above.

Language: Good working knowledge of English

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mandatory:
Min 6 years experience in various areas of software testing, including:
. Min 5 years experience in design and execution of functional and non-functional test cases including transferring of requirements into test designs;
. Min 4 years experience in using automated testing tools, test management tools and defect- tracking systems;
. Min 3 years in test automation using keyword- or data-driven approaches
. Min 3 years experience in testing web applications and web services;
. Min 2 years experience in programming VBScript with HP QuickTest Professional (Unified Functional Testing).

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Mandatory:

. Theoretical knowledge of the fundamental test process
. Knowledge of testing on various test levels using a variety of test types
. Knowledge of the defect life cycle
. Knowledge of test management, planning, test metrics and estimations
. Knowledge of test design/execution using the following test design techniques: Specification-based (or behaviour-based or Black Box); Structure-based (or White Box); Defect-based, Experience-based
. Knowledge of how to:
determine suitable test approaches
compose suitable Test Documentation
define suitable acceptance criteria
review structurally work products from other teams

. Knowledge of ISTQB terminology, (demonstrated by passing the relevant certification exam(s);
. Knowledge how to script functional automated tests with HP QuickTest Professional (Unified Functional Testing) using VBScript (ie no record
. Knowledge of SQL, XML and web services;

Desirable:
. Knowledge of advanced features of HP Quality Center/Quicktest Professional (Unified Functional Testing), proven by relevant training courses and/or passing the relevant certification exam(s);
. Knowledge how to create/manage high volumes of structured and unstructured test data
. Knowledge of iterative development methodology (eg Scrum, MSF, RUP etc.)
