Test Engineer

The Role

We will be developing a prototype for a new E-commerce payments service aimed at Small and Medium sized businesses globally using the WorldPay payment gateways. The main objective is to allow these businesses (hereafter referred to as "merchants") to be up-and-running in hours where today it takes weeks to implement a payments service on a website.

Within three to four months we need to produce a production quality prototype of this service including:

- A developer orientated website including documentation, libraries, example code
- A merchant orientated portal delivering basic analytics.
- Value added services to merchants including subscriptions, invoicing, payouts etc.
- A full service support organisation for the above.

The Role

- Provide the link between the customer and development team throughout the development life cycle.
- Collect, understand and transmit the business requirements for the project and translate these into stories and use cases.
- Work with the development team members to allocate stories and use cases to the product backlog and sprints.
- Work with the test lead to define success criteria for all deliverables.
- Oversee visual designer(s) and ensure wireframes and graphics are delivered on time and with the right quality. Design wireframes yourself when needed.
- Conduct reviews of all documentation and UI design documentation with developers and the testers.
- Provide input into technical stories and use cases to ensure consistency with business requirements.
- Participate in daily stand-ups.
- Analyse and document business processes.

Key Accountabilities

- Define the test approach for functional and non-functional requirements.
- Work with the business analyst to define success criteria for the business deliverables.
- Specify the tests for the business deliverables.
- Report on the current test state of the products.
- Work with the development team members to ensure the products are testable.
- Select testing frameworks and tools.
- Configure testing frameworks and tools.
- Define test data.
- Specify test functionality.
- Implement test scripts.

Skills & Experience

- Functional and non-functional testing of web sites.
- Functional and non-functional testing of REST API's.
- Functional and non-functional testing of Java and related languages.
- Agile methodologies (SCRUM, Lean/Kanban).
- Test tooling and frameworks for browser and Server Side.
- A pragmatic and hands-on approach to testing.
- A systematic and detailed approach to test specification and reporting.
- Testing open source and cloud-based n-tier environments.
- Continuous automated testing environments
