Test Engineer

Our client in Southern Worcester county is looking to add a Sr Test Engineer to their staff via a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity. The Senior Test Engineer will primarily design and develop embedded and computer base software for Production Automatic Test of Power inverters and Servo Drives Boards and Drives using Visual Basic, Java and LabView and occasionally C++. Will have extensive knowledge of embedded operating systems and other specific specialties (such as control systems, operating systems, communications systems) to be able work with a minimum of supervision or assistance from other team members. The ideal candidate will have 7 years of relevant experience and a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop real time software using Visual Basic, Java and LabView languages
- Develop algorithms and systems in specific areas of expertise. These may include:
- Industrial Communications (Modbus, CANOpen, DeviceNet)
- Ethernet based systems (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, EtherCAT)
- Feedback control systems, Motor Control, PC based tools, Real time operating systems, Documentation of developed equipment and software. May include work instructions and manuals.

REQUIREMENTS

- BS in electrical engineering /or Computer science and or related knowledge and experience. MS or MSCS preferred.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in Production Test Automation software development.
- Practical hands-on approach to software/hardware development
- Strong analytical skills
- Good interpersonal skills. Able to relate to and communicate with all levels of the organization and 'end' customers.
- Understand software quality control procedures and practices
- Experience with source control systems like CVS, SourceSafe etc.
- Familiarity with general development tools like Visual Basic, LabView, Visual C++, DOT NET and scripting languages like Perl, Python etc. is desirable
- Understanding and experience in OS multitasking is desirable.
- Advanced hardware/software troubleshooting using emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and DVMs
- Understanding of microprocessor subsystems/peripherals and data acquisition techniques.
