Test Engineer

Immediate opportunity for a talented hands on R&D Test Engineer with medical optical experience!! This is a direct or temp to direct opportunity with a growing company just outside of the Boston Massachusetts area!! This is a hands-on position reporting to the Director of Systems Engineering and will have responsibility for the development and implementation of test fixtures, methods and procedures for opto-electro-mechanical systems. RESPONSIBILITIES

- Work closely with electrical, mechanical and optical engineers to identify and translate test requirements into repeatable test methods
- Execute assembly and sub/system level verification protocols for performance and reliability testing
- Assist in the transfer of development products to production
- Optical coherence tomography system construction and debugging as well as optical fiber handling, splicing and polishing

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelors Degree in electrical, mechanical or biomedical engineering or equivalent work experience required
- 5+ years relevant experience in the assembly and test of complex opto-electro-mechanical instrumentation
- Experience developing test methodologies using standard test equipment and development of custom test fixtures and software tools using Labview
- Experience in an R&D environment supporting activities such as design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype optical, electronic, electro-mechanical system, or specialized test equipment
- Experience in writing procedures, first article inspection, test, and validation reports
- Prior experience, knowledge developing medical devices in an FDA regulated environment is a plus
- Strong written communication skills - ability to distill requirements and test methods into succinct operator procedures
