Telecoms Software Engineer - Contractor (x2)

TELECOMS SOFTWARE ENGINEER - DAILY RATE CONTRACT - X2 - DUBLIN

These positions are 6 month contract roles initially with a view to extension.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- Ability to specify, design, codify and communicate the technical design of the solution to key stakeholders. This can include creating high level design (HLD) artefacts and the documentation required in order to describe the functional capability of the solution to stakeholders.
- Excellent communications skills both written and verbal are required in this role. The ability to present complex ideas in a convincing and understandable manner is a key skill.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and also as part of cross-functional team in a Matrix managed organisation with ability to influence others as a senior technical contributor.
- Capable of accurately planning and scheduling own work with the ability to cope with changing requirements including multiple assignments. This includes the ability to estimate software development tasks accurately and when necessary to do work breakdown for other engineers.
- Experience with a Scripting language is a necessity.
- Experience with XML, Web Services and data transformation techniques for data extraction and analysis.
- Linux (UNIX) Scripting skills including familiarity with command line utilities eg AWK, SED etc.
- Basic database knowledge and ability to construct SQL or JDBC queries directly or via Java including emerging database technologies.
- Object Oriented programming skills.
- Experience with version control systems, eg svn or git.

Desirable Skills:

- Experience with open source software Apache, Tomcat, JBoss or Linux
- Previous experience working in an Agile or Lean development environment eg SCRUM
