Telecoms - Services Design Engineer

A large national based telecoms company is in urgent need of a Services Design Engineer.

It's initially a six month contract with likely HOOD of extension, rate negotiable.

The purpose of this role includes the Design of Group Technology networks, platforms and solutions. This includes specification, RFPs to vendors, evaluation of vendor responses, migration plans, configuration data-build, capacity management and 3rd level design support throughout life cycle.

Job description:

- Design (defined by CTO), dimensioning, test specification, documentation and maintenance of new and amended networks, platforms and related systems.
- To ensure that the overall solution design meets best telecommunications technology practices,
- Managing day to day network/platform/service design
- Development of migration plans to migrate customers, traffic and services from older platforms to replacement platforms
- PROJECTS To plan and manage the delivery of small or sub- projects
- CUSTOMER; To ensure that the needs of end-users are addressed in detailed designs
- SUPPORT; The provision of third line design support to operational areas

Job Requirements:

- Proven ability to liaise with Architecture and vendor community in developing solution options
- Substantial experience building carrier class applications
- Project qualification/Bachelors Degree
- Excellent detailed knowledge OF A SELECTION OF THESE PLATFORMS INCLUDING:
- Ericsson IN, jNetX NGIN, IN applications (VPN/Number Portability/NTS etc), SMAS, AXE Fixed/Mobile SSF, E10 SSF, E10/AXE Switching, AXE MSC, Fixed/Mobile Voicemail, Teleconferencing, Cisco IP, Security/Cisco Firewalls etc, relevant application Servers, IMS, SIP, SS7/INAP. (IN experience is essential)
- Good knowledge of relevant network protocols/standards (ITU/ETSI/IETF etc)
