Telecommunications Engineer

Yoh has a long term contract opportunity for a TELECOMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER to join our client in Charlotte, NC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Duke Energy with Avaya phone system implementations.
- Responsible for design and implementation of Avaya Communication Manager gateways to replace existing phone systems
- Gather detailed requirements - power, rack space, necessary cabling improvements - for each project. Obtain quotes and provide complete cost estimates. Site visits will be required in most cases
- Submit requests for new or changed PSTN circuit/trunks as needed.
- Provide support as needed to project manager and field technicians for installation.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five to seven (5-7) years experience with design and implementation of Avaya telephone systems.
- Experience with network region design, gateway programming, and Avaya features and services.
- Typical installation includes G650 and G450 gateways and Avaya 9600 IP phones.
- Senior level understanding of Voice Over IP technology; Working knowledge of analog and digital telephone trunks Physical environmental and power requirements and basic traffic analysis is required.
- An understanding of basic data networking fundamentals is needed.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
