TELECOM FIELD SUPPORT TECH MIDLAND, TX CONTRACT TO HIRE

CompuCom is looking for a Telecom Pipeline SCADA ROAD WARRIOR For Midland, TX. This is a Travel Position.

This Technician will provide Telecom, Data Network, MW and RF support to gas and oil production facilities, well pad, pipeline and office locations in New Mexico, Southern Colorado and West Texas. The candidate must be able to work independently to provide skilled technical support for installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems and associated equipment including Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave (MW) communication systems, VSAT, local office phone systems (Cisco VoIP and Nortel PBX) and related equipment.

OVERVIEW:

- Provide telecommunications installation and support services for oil field sites across area
- Perform troubleshooting and MAC support for all telecom equipment
- Install and maintain VSAT (Satellite Communications) systems for SCADA support on pipeline sites
- Install and maintain Microwave Radio (Aviat) networks for SCADA support (MDS, Transnet, FreeWave radios)
- Frequently use spectrum analyzers and Bird Dog Satellite meters
- Install and support well site and field VSAT, RF and MW communication equipment
- Diagnose, test, repair cable/wiring problems (wiring closet to desktop; and backbone)
- Work with Local Exchange Carriers (LECs) and Long Distance carriers to isolate and resolve communications circuit troubles
- Use Remedy ticketing system to track work assignments and internal billing
- Set up, configure, and support internal and/or external networks
- Troubleshoot network performance issues
- Provide technical support and guidance to users
- Assist in the development and maintenance of network communications
- Use knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks
- Install and maintain network and phone system infrastructure at local offices
- Perform basic AC and DC power installation and troubleshooting on RTU and communication panels
- Basic knowledge of RTUs and end devices (OMNIs, Allen-Bradley PLCs)

THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE FREQUENT TRAVEL ACROSS THE AREA (80%+) AND SIGNIFICANT OVERTIME. Must be able to work independently, have excellent technical skills, good ability to communicate and interact with customers, excellent driving record, as well as an extreme focus on safety.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 5+ years in Telecom support experience including RF, Microwave and VSAT installation and maintenance
- Certification in VSAT installation and repair
- CompTIA Network+
- CCNA/CCT
- Knowledge and use of multiple data communication methods (Ethernet, serial, etc.)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Significant travel required including overnight stays
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, walk and stand for long periods of time
- High School diploma or GED
- Excellent driving record
- Vehicle and tools provided
