University Information Technology is York's central information technology services organization, created on July 1st through the merger of Computing and Network Services (CNS) and Finance and Administration Information Technology Services (ITS). UIT exists to provide a wide range of information technology services to York's faculty, staff and students in support of the University's academic, research and administrative goals.

PURPOSE: PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A TEMPORARY CONTRACT To SEPTEMBER 14, 2014. The TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning) Services Coordinator provides planning and coordination of TEL related activities for the delivery of web and multimedia services to support in-class, blended, and distance learning instruction, as well as overseeing the ongoing maintenance of identified TEL projects. This position is responsible for ensuring that client requests are clearly articulated, documented and tracked from intake through to final resolution.

EDUCATION: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience in the applied field.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 2 years related experience in supporting technology in an academic environment with project management responsibilities. Database administration experience with comparable responsibilities is an asset.

SKILLS: Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical users (written and oral); very good analytical and evaluative skills; ability to work independently, set priorities, and work effectively under pressure; project management skills using formal methodologies; ability to perform effectively as part of a team; ability to exercise tact and diplomacy; ability to deal calmly and effectively with people; demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently and meet long/short term deadlines; ability to attend accurately to detail; ability and willingness to keep abreast of technological developments; excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; ability to write clear, concise procedural documentation; and ability to conduct training sessions and instruct others. Advanced skills in a range of computer applications, courseware, web authoring software, and web-based collaboration tools.
