Context

In the framework of a major IT change program, our client is doing a technical migration from Vantive/Visual Basic to .net or Java (not defined yet) of a major ordering platform.
We are looking for an experienced contractor to take lead of the technical aspects: the person will help in the tool selection for this migration (Java or .net, re-development from scratch or code transformation?), They will detect the risks, they will implement the migration and they will give guidance to the different teams involved.

There is no team leading or pure coding included in the tasks.

Activities foreseen in this context are:

-Identify the right approach (list different solution, SWOT analysis, make a proposal on slides and present it the management, )
-Define and document the target technical architecture for the migrated application
-List and plan the activities with the Project Manager
-Prepare the testing phase
-Identify, control and execute quality gates
-Identify risks and issues and Report status to Project and Program manager

Requested Experience

-Minimum 10 years professional experience in IT preferably in a telco company
-Has realised at least one technical major migration (min 200.000 lines of code) from Vantive/VB6 to .net and/or Java.

It includes:

oLead of all the technical aspects
oBuild and control of the quality gates
oIdentify tests scenarios
oRisk management

Profile:

-Technical architecture profile: Custom development, Internet connected architectures, web architectures, Datamodelling
-Expertise in .net or Java and preferably Vantive/VB6
-Communication skills
-Can do attitude
-Fluent (writing and speaking) in English and in French or Dutch
-Risk management skills
-Quality Management skills
