Technology Architect

CONSULTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION

The consultant will be part of the Architecture department and will reports to the Architecture Line Manager & Lead Technology Architect.

Client IT is accountable for all IT globally within Client . The vision of Client IT is to be a valued business partner by providing the right services to meet Client's strategic objectives. Focus is on efficient processes,  prioritized IT demand and IT supply. The unit works closely with all parts of the central organization as well as with the different business units. Client IT has more than 150 employees worldwide. IT services in Client are extensively outsourced.

The Architecture and Standards department within Client IT is focusing on future solutions and use of innovative technology to enable Client's growth. The department is responsible for architecture and design of IT services and solutions in Client , with an overall objective to translate Client business needs into technology and solution design, to drive innovation across the IT organization, and to proactively advocate the utilization of technological solutions to improve Client's business.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Client IT is looking for an experienced solution architect with a strong background in Microsoft technology ( Windows, Active Directory, Exchange) to act as lead architect on a global infrastructure (workplace services) deployment project (Polaris).

In the project, the majority  of architecture and design activities have been already done, the services have been contracted with external vendors, and are being deployed globally.

However, there is a need to create standard solutions and processes to handle deviating requests from end-users and sites, as well as handle specific gaps not addressed earlier, and come up with solutions to problems best solved by changes in the infrastructure.

For the remainder of the project (until the end of 2013), the architect will:

- Handle requests coming from the Polaris team where principal decisions are needed
- Handle Requests coming from the Polaris team/project where no solution can be found
- Handle requests coming from Polaris team where multiparty decisions are needed
- Be a sounding board and help with peer review for the other technology architects
- Steer the external vendors that are managing and implementing the new services
- Negotiate changes to the solution with said vendors

Profile Requirements

- Degree, preferably Master (minimum Bachelor), within Business Administration/Engineering/Computer Science
- Minimum 8 years relevant professional experience - long relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
- Excellent knowledge of infrastructure architecture and technology
- Experience with managing large outsourcing vendors and steering their deliveries
- Thorough knowledge of infrastructure components in a global environment (egWAN, LAN, Servers, Clients, E-mail and collaboration solutions, application packaging and distribution, basic security components, mobility solutions, ) with a strong focus on Microsoft workplace solutions
- Ability to translate business needs into architecture and design
- Ability to estimate and assess the financial impact of architecture alternatives
- Project management experience and skills
- Competency within ITIL process such as Change-, Release- and Capacity Management
- Good communication skills and experienced in interaction with business stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, defining targets and prioritizing tasks in a demanding environment
- Structured (and yet able to manage a lot of simultaneous tasks),  customer service minded, proactive and highly committed and highly driving
- English (fluent written and spoken). Other European languages are a plus
- Comfortable in working in a multi-cultural, multi-language environment
- Working Location: Oslo office or Brussels Office (with frequent travel to Oslo)
- Ability to travel on occasion
