Technician/VNOC Operator

- Identifies equipment problems encountered during his/her duties to the VIDEO Engineering Cell.
- Maintains statistics and draft reports supporting operational requirements such as manpower, equipment resources, etc
-  Elevates trouble tickets to request engineering support to the lower echelons providing end-to-end support for VIDEO communications.
-  Maintain and update VNOC Operating procedures with coordination with NNMC VTC Engineering Cell and CNB VTC Service Manager.
-  Monitors the status of hazardous condition (HAZCON) and coordinates emergency support as required.
-  Uses initiative to propose solutions for unexpected problems and determines which issues to refer to Level 3 Engineers.
-  Has to recognize when specific situations require guidance and has to have the ability to obtain the required information from specific publications or senior staff within the division.
-  Requires little or no supervision in performance of routine functions.
-  The incumbent must be able to interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the appropriate directives and operating instructions in the field of operations and maintenance of the assigned CIS and must be able to adopt non-routine mission requirements.
-  The incumbent is encouraged to suggest changes and recommend new procedures for accomplishing the tasks related to the post for eventual inclusion in the relevant directives and operating instructions.

Essential Professional Experience:
- At least one year working experience in a centralized or regional VNOC. 
-  At least 4 years of experience required in Higher Secondary education and intermediate vocational training which might lead to a formal qualification with some 2-3 years of experience, or a secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
- Must have at least advanced vocational education along with 5 years of experience in circuit switching systems.
-  Sound knowledge of communications protocols required to support VTC in a secure environment and practical experience of using diagnostic test equipment/applications.
-  Basic knowledge of C2 systems and software maintenance procedures related to VTC operations.
-  Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics presentations, databases, e-mail clients/web browsers.
-  Experience in the maintenance, operation and testing of modern communications, or information systems in a LAN/WAN environment.
-  Experience in on-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management  of digital and analog networks and associated transmission systems to include switching systems in support IP voice, video and data transfer.
-  Experience of related communications systems and techniques of ATM, Frame Relay and IP technology.
-  Familiarity with military voice and data systems.
-  Knowledge of communications protocols and practical experience of using communications diagnostic tests.
- Experience in the maintenance, operation and testing of modern communications, or information systems in a LAN/WAN environment.
-  Experience in on-line performance, accounting, fault, security and configuration management of digital and analog networks and associated transmission systems to include switching systems in support IP voice, video and data transfer.
-  Experience in maintenance, repair, modification and operation of large communications networks and related equipment.
-  Basic experience in C2 configuration management
