Technician for gas systems

As a Technician for gas systems in the Services and Installation Section, you will manage the gas distribution to all experimental areas at CERN. You will:

*Take part in the installation, operation, modifications and adjustments of the gas systems experiments in the secondary beam lines.
*Manage the distribution of gases to all experimental areas at CERN.
*Coordinate works on gas networks including handling requests directly with the end users.
*Assemble, prepare and maintain mechanical and electromechanical equipment and instruments including occasional machining of components.
*Supervise operation and modification works carried out by industrial service contracts.
*Maintain the stock of critical spare parts and components for the gas operation.
Qualification required

Technical certificate or general secondary education in the field of mechanics or electro-mechanics, or equivalent.

The experience required :

*Extensive experience in the field of gas system operation, construction and maintenance including assembling and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
*Experience in handling flammable gasses and materials in an explosive environment.
*Experience in the fields of electromechanical, cryogenics systems or vacuum equipment would be an advantage.
The technical competencies required :

*Installation & dismantling of mechanical equipment & systems and gas systems.
*Maintenance & operation of gas/liquid storage/distribution, liquid helium purification systems.
*Maintenance and operation of safety systems: for flammable and pressurised gas systems.
