Technical Writer II Job

TECHNICAL WRITER II needed for a 12 month CONTRACT opportunity in SCHENECTADY, NY.

- WRITING TECHNICAL MANUALS FOR INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Develop and manage all documentation requirements
- Develop and manage technical publication strategy including: technical writing tools & systems, content development, the review & approval process, and methods/media in which manual content is provided to the end user
- Review, edit and manage validation of documentation
- Track and fix documentation defects
- Collaborate with cross-functional team consisting of sales, marketing, service, quality regulatory and engineering to assist in the development and implementation of the user and service documentation strategy
- The technical writer may be asked to coordinate the work of external publishing partners and/or contract workers
- Manage content for the customer portal and business web site
- Develop and execute service and software release bulletins

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism or a similar field or Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of Technical Writing or Journalism or equivalent (defined as High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years progressive experience as Technical Writer or Journalism)
- Two (2+) years of experience writing and editing product documentation
- Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following: Microsoft Office, Adobe Framemaker, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, RoboHelp and WebWorks Publisher software.
- Proven ability to work independently and in team settings
- Experience with user interface design and usability testing
- Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, presentation skills and technical communication skills.
- Previous project experience demonstrating ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision
