Technical Writer/Author - with Robohelp

The Role

We need to transform the look and feel of a large set of technical guides for a tight launch deadline. We also want to rewrite parts of the guides in the company's new, more straightforward tone of voice.
To help us, we need an experienced technical writer with strong copywriting skills. Experience of software development and the payments industry would be an advantage though not essential.

The writer will need to:

* Write simply and well about complex technical subjects.
* Pick up our tools and processes quickly.
* Cope well with shifting and aggressive deadlines.
* Liaise with subject matter experts about the changes they're making and scheduling.

To help them carry out their role they will be:

* Expert users of Word and ideally RoboHelp 10 or another Help tool.
* Very familiar with graphics tools like Visio.
* Familiar with bugs tools like JIRA and review tools like ProofHQ.

They may also have some knowledge of XML, HTTPS and HTML.

Key Accountabilities

The writer is expected to:

* Become proficient in using the new tone of voice in a technical context.
* Understand and apply the company's style and brand guidelines to their work.
* Understand the tools and processes they need to carry out their work.
* Apply new templates and iconography to technical guides.
* Rewrite parts of the guides in the new tone of voice.
* Restructure some guides, to improve navigation and understanding.
* Liaise with subject matter experts on changes to the guides and scheduling.
* Check their own work and possibly that of other writers for errors.
* Deliver the completed guides to the aggressive schedule required by the project.
