Technical Writer/3-5 Month Contract/Midtown

Prestigious law firm in Midtown is searching for a Technical Writer to join their team for a 3-4 month contract assignment.

Duties:

- Interview, observe and document current practices aross various teams (Network, Applications Support, Systems Operations, etc) into formal procedure documents.
- Take ownership of current draft policies including Incident Reponse Policy and IT Department Security Policy, update or re-write as needed, and submit for management approvals.
- Using existing, or create new, templates to develop formal security related policies as needed for HIPAA, ISO 27001, and other requirements. Solict input and feedback, incorporate changes and submit for management approval.
- Analyze security questionnaires and requests for proposals from current and prospective clients to develop audit check lists for the various teams responsible for performing these required audit controls.
- Work with project teams to develop and finalize support procedures, operations manuals, and other documentation related to various internal projects as needed.

SKILLS DESIRED:

- Writing skills - first and foremost the Tech Writer must have an excellent command of the English language, including rules and usage in order to write in a clear and concise manner and to be able to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences from highly technical to non-technical.
- Technical skills - Needs an understanding of how to develop information security policies, practices, process flows and guidelines. Should be familiar with standards like HIPAA, PCI, ISO 27001, NIST, etc. Experience with developing technical policies and procedures for IT to follow as well as end user policies. Familiarity with basic IT networking, database and application development terms.
- High proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word and Visio.
