Technical Writer

Our Fortune 500 client is currently seeking an experienced Technical Writer to be responsible for writing, editing and revising user documentation for a software product. The Senior Technical Writer will have practical, relevant experience in compiling information through research, hands-on product experience, and interviews with subject-matter experts. The Technical Writer will play a critical role in translating information into organized content for use by system facing users.

Primary Duties include:

- Develop and maintain help, user documents, release notes and other user facing software documentation
- Study software development and product design artifacts, and interacts with cross-functional team to understand product features
- Learn the software products through hands-on experience and self-study
- Participate in documentation project scheduling and planning meetings
- Complete writing assignments on time and with high quality
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Scope, define and create new documents

Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience writing software documentation, including online help, user documentation, release notes and other relevant technical documents
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sharepoint (this is flexible) and SnagIt
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to clearly express complex ideas and concepts
- Knowledge of best practices in technical communication
- Strong computer skills
- Comfortable with technology and software
- Ability to work and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability and desire to collaborate with others

- Experience writing about software
