Technical Writer

Our Client has a 6 month rolling contract opportunity for a Technical writer & documentation engineer who will be responsible for the upkeep/migration/exporting of our customer's network documentation. The initial drive is to Export the backlog of documentation into the Customers chosen format under guidance from the customer program manager. You must not only be able to write the documentation, but now how to best Structure the layout into an easy to read and logical format. Will be involved with writing MOPS, Design Standards, New Product integrations, & best Practices. A background in the telecommunication environment (specifically Network Deployment) would be seen as a great advantage.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Updating existing documentation to adhere to new knowledge standards under guidance by a program manager.
- Conversion of existing documentation according to a provided style guide from one documentation system into another documentation system under guidance by a program Manager.
- Production of documentation drafts to adhere to an existing style guide under guidance by a program Manager.
- Work directly with engineers on documentation like FAQs, how-to's, new product
- Introduction documents & updating of existing documentation. Take ownership of various parts of the documentation corpus for maintenance, revision, restructuring and refreshing.
- Ability to work well in a team and as an individual contributor. Demonstrated ability to improve efficiency and quality of documentation processes. Aptitude to learn new technologies quickly.
- Knowledge of  Telcordia GR 1275, 1502, 2981. Backgrounds with detailed CO Engineering, Documentation, CO Infrastructure, Process Improvement, MOPS. Background with DC Power, AC Power, Rectifiers, Grounding, Structured Cabling. Background in Detail Engineering, Site Surveys, Site Audits.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities       

- Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or 5 years in a telecom related field.
- 3 -5 years of industry related project writing/authoring experience. Minimum of 2 - 3 years in exact role as Technical writer/author in the Telecom industry.
- Document authoring, technical writing, leadership, planning and time management skills. Experience with writing in content management systems, HTML and Wiki.HTML, MS Excell, Powerpoint.
