This is a 12 month Contract opportunity. Overview
In this Technical Writer role, you will apply your skills and experience on a couple of projects we are currently working on - one is a Maximo project and the other is an ITIL project. Both will require some knowledge and experience with UPK eLearning. Roles and Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities of this person could include the following: - Analyze, design, develop, and update learning materials for both business and IT solutions including: online help files, user manuals, administrator/technical manuals, online training scripts, training plans, course descriptions, process flow charts, and web page content.
- Work with clients to facilitate data gathering sessions, interview subject matter experts, and review requirements documents (and other technical documentation).
- Perform business process needs assessments and gap analyses, and participate in application user acceptance testing.
- Adhere to corporate policy and procedures and incorporate company-wide best practices into training materials, where applicable. Work with support teams across the organization to identify best possible delivery method(s) for the target audiences.
- Work with other team members to identify and implement standard methodologies and approaches to ensure consistent, high quality products and services are delivered to clients.
- Ensure design and development methods are based on agreed upon, recognized industry and discipline standards.
Qualifications
Specific Skills and Qualifications - IT knowledge and work experience
- 4+ years experience working as a user experience specialist, technical writer, etc.
- Experience writing end user and support user documentation
- Experience with UPK eLearning development (Captivate experience would be a good substitute as we could provide some UPK training to a good Captivate developer)
- Experience with MS Office, Adobe products, etc.
- Experience with ITIL process documentation
- Knowledge of ITIL V3 Framework would be beneficial
- Experience documenting with Maximo General Skills and Qualifications
- IT related education
- An understanding of oil and gas industry would be beneficial
- Superior organization skills with the ability to set priorities, follow-up and meet deadlines
- A proven ability to work in a team environment
- The ability to display tact and good judgment in resolving problems and answering inquiries
- A high degree of initiative and self-motivation
- The ability to manage multiple, concurrent requests
