Technical Writer

This role has the specific objective to produce a set of documented architecture and design patterns suitable for publishing and communication to stakeholders (primarily architecture and solution design)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design of a professional document format and structure for the patterns
- Main document to be created using Microsoft Word
- Some document content will be diagrams, to be created using Microsoft Visio
- Existing samples are available for use as input to the design
- It may be that two different document formats are required, one for architecture patterns and one for design patterns (to be determined in conjunction with the technical writer)
- Conversion of existing pattern documents into the newly designed structure
- Creation of a template for use in documenting future patterns/

KEY REQUIREMENTS

- Experience working in a technology (ideally architecture) environment would be a definite advantage
- Financial services experience highly beneficial
- Ability to write clearly and to explain complicated concepts in clear and easy to understand ways
- Ability to show concepts graphically using appropriate diagrammes
- Visual design skills for document layout and template design
- Understanding of audience perspectives and how to document effectively for different audiences
- Interviewing and listening skills in order to interact with subject matter experts to understand the intent, and gather the required content for the document
- Competence with documentation tools:
- Microsoft Word 2010, including advanced formatting and layout, and use of styles
- Microsoft Visio 2010, including experience with technical diagramming
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, including advanced formatting and layout
