Technical Writer

For this contract position as a TECHNICAL WRITER with a world renowned company, you will develop client-facing documentation for financial institutions and mobile network operators implementing support for a platform which allows customers to transact using cell phones in developing markets throughout Africa and Asia.

Documentation is in support of a new business line. Some existing source materials exist, but the candidate must be able work very independently with minimal guidance to gain an understanding of the audience, the business, the software, and associated information needs.

Excellent information design skills required. Must be a self-starter who can help drive innovative solutions in complex situations.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work with cross-functional teams to analyze information needs.
- Develop documentation strategy to support those needs.
- Create documentation.
- Adhere to existing documentation standards.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

- 5+ years technical writing experience required
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage one's time
- Knowledge of FrameMaker and MS Word (Required)
- Knowledge of mobile communications protocols such as USSD, STK (Preferred)
- Knowledge of financial transaction processing (Preferred)
- Knowledge of Web Services (Preferred)
- Due to global nature of project team, early morning meetings may be required (6am-8am MT)
