Job Description
As a Knowledge Base Technical Writer, you will edit, write and publish technical articles on the Base web site. The articles will address practical issues and questions customers and prospects have in understanding and using products and technologies. The articles will include a mix of short articles for the Knowledge Base and longer how-to, cookbook, and best practices articles for the web site, and possibly a small number of more conceptual articles.
Responsibilities
Editing grammar and formatting of articles written by technical staff
Coaching technical staff so they provide complete articles
Researching and writing Knowledge Base articles
Research and writing how-to, cookbook, and best practices articles
Publishing completed articles to the Knowledge Base web site
Continually suggesting new ways to improve the program and our processes
Requirements
BA/BS in English, journalism, CS, Engineering or equivalent.
3-5 years experience in technical writing in a high tech company.
A passion for learning new technologies.
Proven ability to discuss and research system administration concepts and procedures with software and subject matter experts.
Experience writing technical papers describing operating system and/or system administration problems and answers, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Ability to write clear and concise written documents.
Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Experience in HTML an asset.
Physical Requirements:
Use of computer and telephone.
Supervision Received:
Ability to work independently with general direction on the goals and objectives of the department.
Ability to generate a constant stream of technical articles and papers with little direction.
