Yoh has a seven (7) month plus contract opportunity for a TECHNICAL WRITER to join our client in Washington, DC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare final master document for production including standard approved components of documentation.
- Collaborate productively with all subject matter experts within a team environment to develop appropriate content. Subject matter experts may include, but are not limited to, developers, project managers, training instructors, project leads, security engineers, analysts and administrative personnel.
- Compile data from various sources and writes or revises text of technical finds provided by subject matter experts
- Research topics, including gathering and sorting source and background materials; consult with various personnel to clarify details of source materials; provide statistical analysis of data as required.
- Follow the standard design, layout, and format of the documentation using approved software tools. Prepare graphics to support documentation including screen captures, scanned images, digital photos, and line art.
- Test user documentation against the product in conjunction with the subject matter expert to ensure the documentation's technical accuracy rectifying any discrepancies.
- Manage each defined project responsibly and on schedule including planning time for necessary reviews of documentation. Anticipate projects in development stage and communicate with the Program Manager to allow for adequate planning.
- Interfacing with the customer during meetings and briefings, when providing assessment of produced documentation, and other related engineering briefings.
- Release final master documentation using the approved process when the new documentation is released.
- Electronically upload and organize publications for analysis and distribution.
- Foster a positive working environment and build solid work relationships with other teams and groups as well as within the Information Security and Analysis Department. The writer requires the assistance of a broad range of subject matter experts and must approach all relationships with a service-minded attitude of flexibility and adaptability.
- Develop an understanding regarding the technical operation of Federal Government products from all viewpoints, including technical and security engineering.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have three (3) plus Years of prior experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified below:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)- Special Publication 800-series, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-130; Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).
- Writing, editing and revising a range of technical communications from specifically compiled from NIST policies.
- Technical and business writing experience.
- Test plan and product evaluation documentation.
- Microsoft Office and general Internet based applications.
- Collecting, analysing, verifying, and manipulating technical and research data.
- Developing design and layout of materials to be published.
- Creating graphical organizers, such as flowcharts, and network diagrams.
- Experience with compliance standards and security best practices (CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, etc.).

PREFERRED JOB SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:
- B.S. degree or prior experience in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or Engineering-related degree, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Two (2) plus Years of general computer experience in Windows or Linux system
- Two (2) plus years experience in IT or information security technologies
- Previous experience in an information security environment, developing course/training curriculum is preferred.
- Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of engineer and analysis staff in area of specialty..
- Ability to interact in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong interest in security software and technical writing technologies.
- Effective analysis skills for scrutinizing and evaluating operation and interpreting into effective documentation.
- Proven problem-solving and demonstrated teamwork skills.
- Ability to interpret discussions and to analyze, categorizes, structure and graphically present information.
- Information Security Systems certifications considered a plus.
- Have a understanding of information security principles and industry best practices
- Have an understanding of networking security, TCP/IP, routing, switching, Firewalls and protocols
- Have experience in Windows and Linux system
- Be capable of working independently and as part of a dynamic team
- Working knowledge of network and information security products.
- Effective analysis skills for scrutinizing and evaluating operation and interpreting into effective documentation.
- Be a self-starter and have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
