Technical Writer

Our client is a hugely popular computer components manufacturer seeking a Technical Writer to help define, design, and implement technical writing solutions that will be used standardize, streamline, and simplify documentation. This will be a participatory consulting position where the candidate will be expected to implement solutions as well as teach staff how to sustain and maintain those solutions going forward. The end result of the project will be to help the team focus more on technical and business solutions rather than having to spend so much time and effort figuring out how to document those solutions.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Engage with various team members on a regular basis to understand the business and technical writing needs.
- Evaluate existing documentation looking for improvement opportunities in form, layout, or style.
- Evaluate existing, non-documented technologies, and determine how to best document them.
- Create long term solutions using office tools, SharePoint and/or Web technologies.
- Train staff on proposed and implemented solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 3-5 years' experience including documentation and configuration management
- Strong SharePoint and MS Office suite skills
- Biz process analysis skills
- Excellent technical writing skills and abilities
- Ability to understand technical process flows and end user usage models in-depth
- Ability to define, design and implement complex templates using standard office software suites, SharePoint, and/or web technologies
- Ability to effectively manage ever-shifting priorities in a positive and productive way
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Excellent time management skills
