Technical Writer

Our client is a hugely popular, Northwest-based company looking for Programmer/Writer to help support data center construction and operations.

This contract is being offered by the team responsible for building and maintaining the electrical plants, cooling plants and physical spaces that support the client's Servers. Technical writing resources play a vital role in getting data centers up and running quickly by making sure the methods and procedures that Engineers and Technicians follow are clearly described and easy to follow.

The Programmer/Writer supports the documentation team with metrics gathering and reports. S/He also represents the UI needs of the documentation team and their customers to the teams that develop source control and content management. The Writer develops process documentation on these tools for writing team peers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drive the development and produce peer documentation for document storage, source control, access, workflow, and reporting tools
- Read, review, and as directed, develop SQL queries
- Develop and test reports
- Work with peers to transfer content from Legacy storage

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum of 3 years in a technical writing role
- Experience using multiple documentation tools
- Experience using SQL queries
- Experience using CSS
- Experience programming with Ruby on Rails or PHP
- Strong grammar skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working directly with development teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree in English, Technical Writing, or related field highly desirable
- Experience with XML-based publishing systems
- Proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
- Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

This contract position is expected to be 3 months in duration.
