Technical Writer

Our client is looking for an experienced and talented Technical Writer to define and drive documenting the APIs and services for their award-winning family of interactive travel products. This team owns the technology that drives their transportation and destination services businesses: air, car and rail. This includes booking and fulfillment systems for all points of sale, supplier connectivity, and air servicing tools. Travel is an incredibly dynamic and evolving space, and innovation is constant. We are looking for an experienced and talented Technical Writer who can take ownership of documenting the supply services and applications and keep documentation up to date for consumption by different audiences that include business owners, who understand little or nothing about technology, to really hard core technical teams building applications on top of client services. We expect you to also play the role of an information manager/architect for the team to be able to identify the tools used to develop and share the technical information along with upkeep and maintenance with constant updates needed.

Technical writing samples will be required for review.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Building a knowledge base for the team and processes used to support the live site
- Taking a systematic approach to reviewing all KB articles for accuracy and providing updates where available
- Identifying gaps in the API documentation and authoring content to fill gaps
- Identifying deficiencies in documentation and interview with module/component/application owners to provide adequate level of technical information and process clarification to internal and external customers
- Reviewing all images and diagrams contained in documents for accuracy and correcting or creating where necessary
- Coordinating review for new articles or substantial content changes
- Updating Legacy details from documents related to machine names and data centers
- Building a standard look and feel for all supply documents that is clear and articulates the message
- Ensuring all documents are authored in a clear and easy-to-follow format and tailored to audience
- Publishing updates to KB articles
- Identifying toolsets used to create and maintain this documentation in a scalable manner

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

- A Bachelor's Degree and or 5+ years equivalent work experience
- Proven track record of providing technical documents for the E-commerce services field
- Familiarity with XML web services
- Ability to read and understand XSDs and SQL concepts
- Sound understanding of relational databases, and familiarity with SOA concepts
- Understanding principles associated with alerting and monitors in a web based E-commerce environment
- Strong self-motivation and direction
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

THIS CONTRACT POSITION IS EXPECTED TO BE 6 MONTHS IN DURATION WITH POSSIBLE EXTENSION AND CONVERSION TO CONTRACT TO HIRE.
