This is an initial 6 month contract opportunity.Overview

In this Technical Support Specialist role, you will be responsible for providing technical applications and field data capture support for the Oil Sands asset teams. Key stakeholder groups leveraging the Energy Components application are Production Engineers, Production Accountants and Field Operations staff.

Role and Responsibilities

This role will be based downtown and is a newly created position will include the following responsibilities but is not limited to this list:

- Application Support: Provide application support to the FDC (Field Data Capture)/Energy Components Application (production module) users including troubleshooting production issues, issue resolution and application of systems and process knowledge.
- Access Control: Assist with the setup and maintenance of role based security models while following standards for access control.
- Reporting Requirements: Work with business users to gather, define and prioritize reporting requirements.
- Reporting Development: Work with existing reporting tools to design and develop reports to satisfy the business reporting needs/educate end users on self-serve reporting capabilities where appropriate.
- Domain Experience: Apply Upstream Production domain knowledge to drive the continual improvement of Oil Sands field data capture business processes.
- Data Integrity: Support the maintenance of Production Data to enable consistency in data and measurement metrics.
- Technical Liaison: Liaise with numerous other IT and business groups and be the technical point of contact to enable and escalate application or system integration related issues for rapid resolution.
- Continuous Improvements: Proactively look for process/system improvements to enable efficient business operations and ensure alignment with strategic direction.
- Master Data Configuration: Assist in the setup and ongoing maintenance of FDC master data configuration and perform impact analysis of master data configuration changes.
- Testing: Participate in new site-specific onboarding projects and version upgrades to ensure the Energy components application and associate data/reporting integrations remain structurally integral and stable over time and the application continues to meet business requirements.
- Knowledge Transfer/Training: Provide FDC system and process training to the end user community over time.
- On-Call Support: Participate in providing 24/7support on an on-call rotational

Qualifications

- 5+ years of demonstrated work experience in the Upstream Oil industry in a technical related role which includes application support.
- Possesses a practical working knowledge of production accounting and production engineering in the Upstream Oil and Gas industry (ideally focusing on Oilsands/SAGD development).
- Experience and knowledge of the Oil Sands operations business and production accounting processes and associated reporting.
- Experience working to support Field Data Capture systems (eg Production Volume Reporting (PVR), Energy Components Production Module, etc.).
- Possesses a solid understanding of relational database fundamentals (eg Oracle SQL)
- Report writing experience or script writing (eg SQL Views, SQL Queries is a definite asset).
- Proactive approach to troubleshooting application issues to resolution.
- Root cause analysis to find the source of issues and provide recommendations/fixes to prevent future occurrences.
- Customer service focused with a proven ability to deliver on assigned tasks.
- Strong computing skills across standard tools (MS Office, MS Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a diverse workload.
- Ability to identify issues that require escalation to other teams within the company so as to meet required customer response times.
- Proven analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-reliant/self-motivated and must work well in a dynamic team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
