Technical Release/Configuration Manager

Currently seeking an SC cleared or clearable Technical Release and Configuration Manager, to be based on site in Erskine for a contract duratio0n of 12 months to be confirmed by the client.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Experienced Release and Configuration Management Engineer required to join an existing team in the management of hardware and software build components, including the recording and maintenance of build documents supporting 30+ subsystems for a large defence infrastructure project.

An analytical approach will be required to assess and verify current build artefacts and identify opportunities for improvement, including the development of custom tools to support the process.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for the end to end build documentation of all S/W and H/W deliverables, involving change management and document version control. Including:
- Managing Subsystem Books (a system build spreadsheet) covering 30+ subsystems.
- Support the Subject Matter Experts for each subsystem in the maintenance of their Subsystem Books (SSB) contents, ensuring that they accurately reflect the build order and specification
- Support the Integration and Test teams in verifying the contents for the SSB to successfully delivery a system.
- Supporting the Lead Engineers and Release & Deployment Management in authorizing SSBs for release.
- Supporting the engineering leadership in improving the overall quality and speed of the engineering lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

- Infrastructure focused individual with demonstrable experience within a Release/Configuration/Deployment capacity.
- Detailed understanding of Windows in large enterprises.
- Knowledge of PC lifecycle configuration tools (eg HP Radia, Microsoft SMS)
- Understanding and experience of maintaining metadata.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Access skills, including developing macros, forms and VBS.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

- Experience of build automation toolsets or build artifact repositories would be advantageous.
- Experience in managing the branching and merging of system branches across iterations, features and milestones.
- Promote rigorous engineering practices across engineering organizations.

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES

- UK resident, able to be UK security-cleared
- Broad understanding of Infrastructure Projects
- Broad understanding of hardware, software and network components.
