Technical (Unix) Project Manager - 12 MONTHS CONTRACT
Long term contract available for an experienced Technical (Unix) Project Manager to start ASAP
The client:
A large consultancy (FTSE 500)
Your responsibility:
The Project Manager is responsible to drive technical projects using the Prince 2 based Project management methodology.
These projects are related to IT infrastructure services specific to UNIX and Backup & Storage services. Projects are like, rollout of new storage systems, changing backup strategy, migration of UNIX operating systems etc. Some projects have development work like developing application for system monitoring, reporting, CMDB etc.
The role reports to the Program manger required reporting to overall project portfolio coordinator.
The Project manager is required to maintain regular reports, status updates and coordination with customer for his/her respective projects.
Day to day activities of this role include,
o tactical tasks of ensuring projects run smoothly.
o tracking of progress of his/her own project portfolio (8-10 projects at any given time)
o SLA measurement and reporting internal to my client and monthly to end customer.
oManage and utilize the MS Project Server 2010 system to handle his/her portfolio
o hand customer escalation related to project progress
o track and highlight resource needs projects to his/her manager.
Essential skills required :
Strong technical background in Unix - Solaris, Linux, AIX
Strong infrastructure background
Prince 2 certified
Strong Project Management skills
Strong stakeholder management skill
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Problem solver
A team player with strong relationship skills dealing with outside entities
German language would be an advantage
Rates: -Up to 600 Euros per day for the right Technical (Unix) Project Manager with all skills and experience required.
