Technical Project Manager - Automotive Electronics

The Role
An exciting opportunity to join a world-class team responsible for delivering a variety of consultancy and engineering based projects ranging in values potentially in excess of £1m.

This is a very fast-paced sector requiring advanced project management and problem-solving skills for programmes with short delivery cycle times and demanding applications. The role involves providing project management primarily for the delivery of EPHS (electrically powered hydraulic steering) systems outside of mainstream programmes. Additionally, the role will support other complex projects and programmes.

The ideal candidate will combine knowledge and experience in one or more engineering disciplines with project management experience, in an electronic product development context.

What we are looking for

Essential:
- Engineering degree at bachelor's level or equivalent
- Electronics or Software Engineering background
- Proven Automotive Experience ideally in Tier 1 or niche OEM
- Technical knowledge and experience of electronic product development
- Engineering project leadership capability
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Willing and able to travel globally to support customers when required

Desirable:
- Experience in automotive product manufacturing environment, or in a manufacturing support role
- Knowledge of electronics requirements, design and validation techniques
- Experience in the assembly processes and testing involved in the manufacture of automotive electronics
- Experience of formal problem solving methods, eg Six Sigma or Shainin

What you'll do
- Provide project management leadership to engineering application team.
- Plan and deliver product design and proving in line with application program requirements - performance, cost and timing.
- Facilitate necessary design decisions by bringing together the appropriate engineering specialists.
- Be the primary point of contact for EPHS and other product engineering activities for a specific application, including engineering, customer and suppliers.
- Track status of engineering change and resolution of product technical issues. Prioritise and escalate accordingly.
- Liaise with internal functions and operational units, for example manufacturing, purchasing and sales, to ensure product design supports business objectives.
- Manage delivery of activities to meet defined engineering process.
- Prepare documentation and presentation material to effectively communicate technical subject matter to audiences at working level and at senior management level.
- Track engineering project budget. Prepare engineering cost estimates for new projects.
