Technical Project Manager

Our client based in Birmingham is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join their team on an initial 3 month contract with possibility to extend.

An urgent requirement has arisen for a Technical Project Manager, to work in conjunction with the outgoing and incoming service providers on the line-of-business application migration work stream.

Responsibilities:

* Ensure that the line-of business application migration is undertaken with as little disruption as possible to business-as-usual IT services, including identifying and mitigating risks wherever possible;
* Investigate, and where necessary document, the use, installation and configuration of business applications in the outgoing suppliers data centre;
* Work with the in-house Application Support and Technical Architects teams, and the incoming service provider's technical team, to ensure that the business applications are successfully re-installed in the new supplier's data centre, and that they are satisfactorily tested and prepared for operation cut-over;
* In conjunction with the application support and technical teams; plan, test and execute all data migration activities that are required for successful application migration;
* Work closely with the supplier's and the project managers in planning the delivery of business application migration activities, ensuring that milestone are realistic and achievable;

Key Skills:

1. Experience of data centre migration projects, including real-time relocation of live systems, applications and data;

2. Working with internal and supplier teams, as the project manager responsible for the successful delivery of a time-critical application and data migration project;

3. Proven background in Project Management and capable of delivering numerous work streams at the same time;

4. Prince 2 experience and ideally qualification(s);

5. Technical background including infrastructure design / delivery and the ability to plan and migrate complex multi-systems solutions;

6. Knowledge of migrating web facing systems including but not limited to .Net, Java, SQL, Oracle etc.

7. Strong documentation skills

8. Experience of working with and managing delivery by Third Party suppliers

9. Business Analysis skills, gathering technical requirements etc,

10. Security clearance: BPSS and ideally SC (or willing to undergo the approval process for this).
