Technical Project Manager

This is a hands-on Technical Project Manager role, delivering into a Major Service Provider. The role involves the Project Management of the EMS and OSS Systems Integration for a major new Juniper Network rollout. The scope includes the EMS Design, Development and Integration of the EMS, and of software customization of the Juniper Router, into the Service Provider OSS/IT. The EMS PM will manage a small team of EMS & OSS SI Consultants, dependencies and deliveries from Engineering and from Sub-Contractors, report into the Programme Manager, and work with the customer PM and Technical teams, and deliver into the customer Acceptance Testing

TECHNICAL SKILLS NEEDED

- IDEAL - Juniper Network Routers, Juniper EMS Experience
- ESSENTIAL - EMS/NMS and integration into OSS/BSS/IT, Communications Service Provider (CSP) experience
- ADVANTAGEOUS - BRAS Subscriber Management, Business Edge EMS/OSS

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND DESIRED

- 6-10 years experience in delivering EMS solutions and integration into OSS/BSS/IT in Service Providers and/or Enterprise customers
- Minimum of 5 years in a customer-facing Project Management role
- BA/BS degree in a related area or equivalent project management experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or a target date of when this would be obtained
- Formal training and/or Certificate in project management from university or accredited program

PERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES SOUGHT

- Experience of designing and implementing NMS and OSS/BSS/IT solutions is essential.
- Proven capability to successfully manage and deliver EMS and OSS Systems Integration
- Effective planning directing and providing support, direction and functional or technical expertise the project team, and influencing stakeholders
- Drives and is accountable for the definition of project scope, schedule and budget required to achieve defined objectives
- Manages and takes corrective action to deliver projects that meet scope, schedule, cost and quality expectations
- Improves upon existing processes and defines new processes necessary to ensure successful execution and control of the project

- Budget, resource requirements, & allocation
- Project schedules and dependencies
- Project base lining, and monitoring, and corrective action.
- Communication mechanisms including: Project status reports can create work breakdown structure, assist in estimation, validate estimate confidence and then consolidate into a schedule
- Can optimize the critical path
- Can identify problems, chose and execute a solution, and escalate if necessary
- Identifies active project risks, monitors for risk triggers, and executes contingency plans.
- Recognizes changes in scope and can drive scope-versus-schedule/budget discussions to conclusion.
- Can negotiate for the right resources (people, dollars, equipment, etc.) to be assigned to the project; understands an organization's portfolio of projects.
- Recognizes variance between plan and actual results along multiple dimensions (scope, schedule, quality, risks) and can take action to correct.
- Can utilize estimating techniques to improve future project planning
- Assertive and communicative across multiple functional or organizational levels
- Proficient using MS Project software as well as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Email and data repository and query tools.
- Familiar with project portfolio management tools and able to adhere to PMO standards
