Job Outline:

A Technical Project Lead/Systems Engineer is required to support the development of Image Processing Equipment and systems. The successful candidate will lead a multi-disciplined team of highly skilled engineers to develop new innovative products in the defence sector.

The successful candidate will have experience of Technical Project Lead/Systems Engineering (preferably within electro-optical systems) and will have coordinated design activities to develop product concepts, architectures and designs - taking these forward to implementation, integration, test and ultimately high volume production.

The Technical Project Lead/Systems Engineer would be working on internally funded projects (PV) and would also liaise with external customers where applicable. This is a demanding role where the ability to work to short timescales and challenging deadlines is expected.

Key Responsibilities:
Main duties within this role will include:
Technical project lead of all engineering disciplines
Development of design concepts and architectures, working at all phases of the development cycle
Development of compact thermal imaging/night vision systems
Generation of documentation as appropriate for all stages of the engineering life cycle
Leading the design team at internal and customer design reviews
Reporting technical progress to senior management
Personal Specification:
Graduate, of Mechanical/Electronic Engineering or very closely related subject
Five years technical project lead/systems engineering experience with a background in high performance optical systems (thermal imaging and other wavebands)
Experience of the systems engineering life cycle from development through to acceptance testing
Demonstrated the ability to develop and manage system specifications with input from other specialist disciplines as required
An understanding of electronic systems/architectures including image processing algorithms
Ability to lead other engineering disciplines and work with external suppliers/customers
Strong attention to detail and good inter-personal skills
