TECHNICAL PRODUCT MANAGER FOSTER CITY, CA 6 MONTH CONTRACT

MUST HAVE SKILLS: Critical thinking is key as well as the ability to take complicated product components and be able to understand and translate technical aspects to help the teams break down into smaller deliverables; position will require a mix of Product Owner/Manager and Technical Manager skills; Experience with Jira, GreenHopper, Rally, and/or Confluence.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Technical Product Manager is responsible for ensuring the relationship between the Product Office and Technology Group is seamless, effective and well-coordinated. The Technical Product Manager removes impediments that slow progress and ensures Product Office goals are translated, as necessary, and understood by their technology business partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Gain a deep understanding of the global and regional product vision for assigned segments.
- Ensure global and/or regional product vision and strategy are achieved by defining and leading technical product strategy and development for assigned segments.
- With the global product vision as the focus, collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Development Leads, QA Leads, Subject Matter Experts and other stakeholders from across the organization to ensure technical product development is properly prioritized, organized and progresses as expected.
- Introduce teams to the concept and benefits of User Story Mapping. Facilitate User Story Mapping to elicit requirements, identify dependencies and inform both prioritization and Story Point estimates.
- Using solid business analysis skills, elicit clear, actionable and achievable business requirements. Collaborate with Product Owners to produce well-formed User Stories for team backlogs.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize and elaborate User Stories. Ensure team backlogs are properly groomed.
- Lead Agile adoption in a traditionally waterfall development environment keeping business management needs in balance with Agile thinking.
- Coordinate work and mitigate issues related to development teams using Scrum integrating with development teams using Waterfall methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelors/Degree required, MBA preferred
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible business experience with experience in card payments industry, corporate banking or card processing preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Extensive experience with Jira, GreenHopper, and Confluence to organize and manage work
- Experience using the above tools to produce executive summaries for large, complex and highly matrixed programs
- Solid understanding of the Agile methodology and experience managing projects using the Scrum framework required; Agile/Scrum certifications a plus
- Previous consulting experience preferred for Product Leadership roles
- Demonstrated track record of developing product strategies based on business objectives and leading implementation that delivers measurable business results
- Analytical skills that are fact-based and the ability to synthesize and organize data/information
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively across regional and functional lines
- Exceptional planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Exceptional project management skills with ability to drive consensus in cross regional and cross functional teams
- Ability to translate product complexities into practical business solutions appropriate for the client
- Flexibility and creative thinking skills with the ability to define business tradeoffs, generate out-of-the-box solutions and manage uncertainty
