TEMPORARY TECHNICAL OFFICER - 12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

Information Services, Force Headquarters, Ripley

37 Hours per week

To undertake the technical support of the Force ICCS, Radio, Telephone and Call Centre Systems.

To uphold the Force's Values or Performance; Innovation; Responsibility; Respect; Integrity.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:- ESSENTIAL:

EDUCATION

- BTEC National Diploma in  Telecommunications Studies or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications

EXPERIENCE

- Proven experience in Telecommunication service provision. 
- Experience must include:
- Practical experience in the installation of telephone and radio systems.
- Through understanding of structured cabling infrastructure, Jumpering, patching and fault finding.
- Through understanding of Telecommunications Systems and their management by means of specialised computer applications.
- Through understanding of system fault diagnostic work on integrated Telecommunications and computer systems.
- Practical experience in liaising with external suppliers in the provision of services to users.
- Practical experience in the use of Office Computer Systems for the routine programming Telecommunication Systems and maintaining records. 

DESIRABLE

EDUCATION

- BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Telecommunications Studies or Degree in Telecommunications Studies

EXPERIENCE

Experience/Knowledge of following:

- Private Mobile Radio Systems.
- Data Communication Systems
- Telephone Networks
- Emergency Services Communications Systems including ICCS and Airwave Service
- Experience/Knowledge of  Public Telecommunications Operators  
- Involvement in telecommunications Projects.
- Involvement in the Specification and procurement of Telecommunications equipment and services.
- Use of Office Computer Systems for the management and documentation of Telecommunication Systems.
- Knowledge of Customer Service Level and quality of service procedures.
