Technical Marketing Engineer

For this contract position as a TECHNICAL MARKETING ENGINEER with the leading computer components brand, you will be working with the Technical Marketing team of the Open Source Technology team. This team drives customer adoption of open source technologies and operating systems in various market segments including Mobile, In-Vehicle Infotainment and Data Centre. You will work primarily on the Android OS, but also on technologies such as Tizen, Chrome, Yocto for core platforms, as well as open source technologies for Data Centre such as Open Stack and Hadoop. The scope of the team's activities include design-win and design-in technical support for customers and partners, technical collateral, field/customer training and product/customer demos.

This is an opportunity to develop and apply technical knowledge along with strong problem solving skills. You will be working with Technical Marketing Engineers to develop demonstrations and collateral to drive the development and delivery of cutting-edge new products and ecosystem into these growth markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Compiling, editing and validating Release Notes and other collateral for Android software releases.
- Researching and documenting information for the development of the technical and demo collateral
- Running tests to provide key information for design-win and design-in technical support to OEMs and Operating System solution vendors
- Executing a demo roadmap for various open source technologies and open source operating systems, primarily Android
- Working with other external and internal teams to procure and plan ingredients for demos
- Developing and integrating demos
- Preparing and troubleshooting demos for events, conferences possibly with customers/partners

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- 5+ years of related work experience
- Strong technical background in Android and other Linux based Open Source Operating Systems
- Should have hands-on experience developing, porting and/or debugging on Android applications and/or platforms
- Strong knowledge of Android SDK and related components (such as touch, display, wireless, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of Android media framework
- Strong knowledge of Android and Linux internals, especially in the area of networking, USB, video codecs
- Proficiency debugging Android apps and Linux applications
- Broad software engineering experience including familiarity with Open Source Software version control, configuration management and bug tracking tools would be a benefit
- Proven communication skills.
- Demonstrated technical writing skills and attention to detail, especially as related to creating and executing product demonstrations
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking
- Ability to work independently and proactively, multitask effectively and exhibit strong influencing and leadership
