Technical Manager - Maidenhead - Up to £80,000 + Benefits

You will be working for one of the world's leading providers of innovative learning and media technologies.

Supporting over 3,000 customers in 90 local authorities and 22 countries, they provide collaborative learning services across the world; from UK to US to Australia.

The succesful candidate will be an experienced manager to lead a team of web developers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in .NET web development, architecting large scale SaaS products and services, as well be able to demonstrate delivering complex internet base solutions to tight timescales and budgets.

The successful candidate will join this exciting team in a key senior role, and will help the team to create innovative web applications and brand new technologies and models. This will involve solving complex functionality problems with high availability, scalability, using brand new technologies and modern patterns and architecture. Alongside R&D and features-development, the role will be critical in supporting our customer services team and existing active user base, across a range of products and solutions.

Importantly, the role will be line managing the Development Team, including the Web Developers, Web Designers and Project Managers, and will play a key part in the innovation and development of the product lifecycles, by guaranteeing the quality of our deliverables through close working with key stakeholders and senior management.

Areas of Responsibility

* Manage, motivate and lead the Development Team
* Oversee the technical architecture of the solution
* Preparation of software design documents
* Review of documentation and associated software artifacts
* Evaluation of new technologies and methodologies
* Implementation, coding, test, integration and release of software
* Chair the Design Board (technical) and the Product Board (functional)
* Support pre-sales activities and tenders

Technical Competencies

An Application Architect / Team Leader with 7+ years' experience with focus on web development and technologies with a Microsoft background

* Full web understanding (HTML5, JavaScript/jQuery, WAI Accessibility, CSS, XML, etc.)
* ASP.NET WebForms 4.0 using C# language, desirable MVC
* Experience with development and deployment in Windows Azure
* Proven ability to manage complex software design tasks and experience with design patterns appropriate for multi-tier systems
* Full software development life-cycle experience
* Good practical knowledge of software development methods and tools (e.g. Visual Studio and TFS)
* Good analysis gathering skills, preferable some methodology background (UML), desire to solve ambiguity from Key Users and stakeholders
