Technical IT Security Specialist

Looking for an opportunity for the start of 2015?

We are looking for an experienced Technical IT Security Specialist for a 3 month contract. The Technical IT Security Specialist will work within the IT Security section.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE STRONG SKILLS IN THE FOLLOWING:

- Splunk (including administration, dash boarding, and reporting);
- Technical management and administration of systems such as but not limited to: Windows components; Linux Systems (Desirable); Networking components DNS, DHCP and proxies);Network enforcement including IDS/IPS, and Firewalling;
- Installation, configuration and administration of endpoint protection products;
- Problem analysis and remediation; and
- Technical security investigation and analysis.

THE DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

STANDARD ACTIVITIES

- Working as part of a team to monitor the environment for security issues and applying treatments where appropriate.
- Working as part of a team to appropriately identify, prioritise and schedule security work;
- Provide technical leadership in the analysis and resolution of security incidents including: analysis and removal of malware or other unwanted software/hardware; reviewing, analysing and reporting on security incidents; providing security recommendations; and developing remediation plans.
- Enhancing the departments Splunk monitoring capability including adding new or modifying existing logging feeds and reports;
- Assist with the hardening of the Windows desktop, server and Linux environments; and

CAPABILITY BUILDING

- Providing on the job security technical training to the team;
- Assist with and where required implementation of the Top 35 ASD recommended cyber security controls

ADVISORY CAPABILITY

- Assisting or performing security risk assessments against ICT productions, solutions or services;
- Auditing systems and services for compliance against the Information Security Manual or relevant local security policy guidance;
- Assist with the development of technical security specifications and security architecture materials;
- Providing technical security advice;

SECURITY CLEARANCE LEVEL

Minimum of a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
