Must be flexible to work between the hours of 8:30am-8:00pm, and work Saturdays as well.
Job duties for Installation Support Specialist include:
- Be able to manage server installations and upgrades remotely with on-site dealership personnel
- Work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Obtain all necessary site installation information to insure a full understanding of scope and expectations
- Provide guidance for hardware installation using established procedures
- Perform appropriate escalation procedures to resolve the following potential installation issues:
- DOA or equipment damaged in shipment
- Incorrect or short shipments
- Equipment failures that occur during on-site installation period
- Identify, describe and work with appropriate departments to resolve hardware installation issues
- Identify action items for issues unresolved during upgrade
- Guide dealership personnel through system and peripheral configuration checklist and established procedures
- Perform configuration changes as needed to resolve unexpected site issues
- Remotely troubleshoot and resolve technical issues over the phone within a Windows Terminal Server environment, involving Dell PowerEdge Servers, Fortinet Firewalls, tape backups and supported printers
- Act as Remote Administrator for dealership Servers, including user account management, shared files, and print queue setups
- Administer changes to their Fortinet Firewalls
- Document resolutions in our call tracking system
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and other team members
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Terminal Services (Windows 2008 and 2003) and Thin Client configuration is a plus
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot computer hardware, software and peripheral related problems and provide solutions
- Proven experience installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing software, hardware and peripherals
- Strong Organization and time-management skills
- Must be self-directed and work with a minimum of supervision
- Must be goal and results orientated with a strong work ethic
- Skilled with both verbal and written communications to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in the computer field is preferred or the equivalent, technical training and experience
- Minimum of 3 years practical network and computer experience
- Industry certifications including MCSE, A+, Server+, and Network+ are highly desirable
Other Requirements:
- Previous end user phone support experience
- Flexibility to work any shift as well as working weekends, after-hours, and Holidays
