Technical Delivery Manager/Infrastructure Project Manager

The Role

- Plan, organise, lead, and control projects or services, or both, in order to deliver the infrastructure solutions for the business to the quality required, within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Required to define the scope of the project or service; manage goals, risks, issues, and resources; and ensure appropriate Quality Assurance procedures are applied through the life cycle.
- Able to plan, manage and deliver Infrastructure services, covering: Data Centre, centrally-provisioned infrastructure services, WAN & LAN, desktops and offices/local infrastructure services. In a number of areas, these services will be built as new systems and services.
- Technical understanding and expertise to provide consultancy and assistance on Infrastructure requirements to the wider technology and business organisation.

Key Accountabilities

- Technical Leadership - Lead the definition of requirements from requesting areas and co-ordinate the delivery of the agreed Infrastructure deliverables to time, cost and quality. Provide technical guidance where required, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Span of work is across Data Centres, corporate WAN, Office Infrastructure networks and services, Desktop service, Project Plan & Resourcing, RIDA logs and Reporting: Creates, manages, and resources project plan(s) and associated risks agrees and reviews plans, costs and resources with the appropriate governance forum and/or Senior Project Manager.
- Success will be measured by having all project packages and service deliverables. produced in line with agreed tracking and reporting standards and to agreed service levels. Reports on progress to Senior Project Manager, sponsor, and customer, as well as the Programme.

Skills & Experience

- Will have a track record of Infrastructure service delivery in a leadership position.
- Should have managed a technical team of at least ten staff through the whole project life cycle on more than one occasion, or managed a significant work package within a major project.
- Proven track record of successful infrastructure implementations.
- Technical expertise relating to Network products and protocols, server products and services and infrastructure service management products/services.
- Understanding and experience of Data Centre build/migration projects
- Demonstrate an awareness of commercial and contractual issues.
- Communicate effectively at all levels both within Technology, the Business and 3rd party service providers. Experience of setting, and operating to, Service Level Agreements Understanding and experience of project management, methodologies and change management processes.

Technical Knowledge

- Extensive relevant IT experience with experience in managing implementation of large programmes and projects.
- Past experience of working with various Infrastructure technologies and 3rd Parties, including: Data Centre & Office Local Networking, WAN & External Network Providers, Enterprise Storage technology, Virtual Server farms, Infrastructure Products & Services: Security, Maintenance, Access control, User Products & Services: Desktop, Email, File/Print/Directory, Anti-virus.
- Experience User of MS Office Suite including project and visio.
- Experience with project management methodologies and frameworks.

People Management

- Direct responsibility for employees, as well as building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners.
- Responsible for appropriate People Management activities - eg Performance Management of direct reports and such like.

Financial Management:

- Direct responsibility for Project budgets.
- Required to manage resources (staff, suppliers, and hardware & software) in a cost effective manner, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and having identified follow them through.
