Technical Consultant - Unix Server Management - 6 Months Contract

Our client, a highly reputable organisation, is looking to recruit the services of an experienced UNIX Engineer on an initially 6 month contract.

You will be providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies and provide technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams in Unix/or Linux technologies (RedHat, Solaris Min 2 years of Project Mgt exp
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving and communication skills to collaborate between mgt level, peers level and field level.
- Lead technical support and administration on all Unix Servers in the data centre, including server build.
- Take ownership on all issues/outages and maintain server's availability in accordance to SLA.
- Maintain architectural roadmaps for key technologies and recommend strategies to deliver max functionality at optimal cost.
- Plan, coordinate and support maintenance efforts like patch rollout, system upgrade.
- Coordinate with vendors for all hardware repair/replacement and escalations.
- Capacity planning and analysis and performance tuning.
- Analyse business requests and provide solutions to meet requirements.
- Experience in cluster mgt tools like MCSG, VCS, HACMP or Sun Cluster.
- Knowledge in ITSM/ITIL based Service Delivery will be a bonus.
- Certifications in HPUX, Solaris or Redhat administration.
- Expertise in various different backup S/W (eg Data Protector, Tivoli Storage Mgr, VERITAS Storage Mgr or Netbackup)
- In-depth experience in Unix Security Mgt.
- Advanced troubleshooting of network
