TECHNICAL AUTHOR- MILITARY, CODING STRUCTURES, MAINTENANCE, DEFENCE

A Technical Author with experience of production and maintenance of user documentation on military/commercial projects experience is required to work on a six month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Dorset

OVERVIEW OF THE TECHNICAL AUTHOR CONTRACT ROLE

To provide information to the Tech Pubs Manager and to assist in the preparation of estimates and progress reports.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE TECHNICAL AUTHOR

- Liaising with project SMEs, particularly the ILS function, to scope, structure and generate data sets in support of the project system.
- Preparing and maintaining DMs in support of Project delivery milestones. Ensuring the content, style, accuracy, completeness and configuration management of the DMs and their compliance to the applicable standards.
- Liaising with other client Systems sites, customers and partners including if needs be travelling to other UK sites.
- Monitoring, recording and reporting work progress to ensure efficient execution of the tasks on time and within budget.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE ROLE:

- Conversant with the requirements and stipulations of ASD 1000D,
- Def-Stan 00-60 and JSP 886.
- Experience in working with XML/SGML DM coding structures and a CSDB environment.
- Expertise in a wide range of authoring software applications, specifically Arbortext CSDB for S1000D, EAGLE LSAR and CAD.
- Several years' experience in the production and maintenance of user documentation in both a military and a commercial environment.
- Managing tasks to time and budget.
- Self-motivated and organised individual, ensuring the Technical Documentation for defence aircraft is delivered

The role is based in Christchurch, Dorset - commutable from Salisbury, Fordingbridge, Ringwood, Lymington, Ferndown, Bournemouth and Poole with excellent access from Southampton, Eastleigh and Winchester
