Technical Author

Our software client is looking for technical authors to join their established, friendly writing team, producing user, online help and technical documentation for their financial software products aimed at traders. These are initial 12 month contracts to start in March or April.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

- Solid experience of producing and updating software documentation.
- The ability to quickly grasp complex technology.
- Familiarity with financial software aimed at traders (securities, derivatives etc.) would be very useful, although training is available.
- Familiarity with FrameMaker and MadCap Flare (or RoboHelp or similar) is important; experience in use of conditionalised text is useful, as this is used extensively in both help and PDF documents.
- Experience in a number of the following areas: HTML, XML, databases, Java, JMS, system admin. documentation.
- The willingness and ability to work using defined procedures and to a specified house style.
- The flexibility and willingness to change track as needed, to meet documentation requirements for minor releases and unplanned hot fix releases while still fulfilling scrum team obligations.
- The ability to work on your own initiative, as although working with other authors, the authoring team is a busy one and day-to-day work will be self-managed as part of Agile scrum teams, working with developers, testers, etc. mostly based elsewhere on a two-week scrum cycle.
