Software Technical Architect

A key client has an urgent requirement for a Senior Technical Architect with a background in banking and payments systems to join their dynamic team. You will help to innovate and define strategy and the technology roadmap for the ongoing development of enterprise software and systems. this is an important and strategic contract appointment. Essential Duties

"Review Design and Architecture related to a card and Payment system to ensure proposed functionality is suitably robust.
"Work with design and development team to set technology standards, development methodologies, etc.
"Review, identify, and recommend opportunities to optimize, consolidate, refactor, reuse, simplify and streamline the infrastructure and software asset base.

"Provide expert advice on emerging technology platforms and tools to improve performance.
"Provide key input into the technology strategy and work with key stakeholders to influence direction, being aware of timeframes and prioritization.
"Provide proactive technical oversight and mentorship to design and development teams to foster re-use, design for scale, stability, and operational efficiency.
"Be aware of current business and technology trends from participation in industry consortia with the ability to assess their impact on architecture strategy whilst promoting innovation across the product set

Job Specifications
Essential Experience:

"Demonstrated architecture design experience at a leadership level
"Expertise in J2EE, Oracle databases, RAC, JMS and JBOSS
"A strong capability to establish and promote best of breed technology and architectural strategy
"Proven experience and ability to work with multiple clients across multiple projects concurrently
"Demonstrated capability developing, maintaining, promoting, and reviewing system architectures
"Demonstrated experience with enterprise systems and architectures in highly scaled environments
"Successful history of experience in multiple IT disciplines that include analysis, design, evaluation, and development
"Proven experience with Oracle database design and related technologies

"Proven experience with retail card and payments processing systems
"Proven experience with data flows, queuing mechanisms, interface solutions
"Proven ability to understand the end to end solution/process and determine the impact of component failure
"Demonstrated ability and willingness to quickly understand the business, its goals and objectives, and design the correct technical solutions to successfully achieve same

"The ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
"Demonstrated commercial understanding in the technology architecture and build space, eg develop costed estimates, effort estimates and infrastructure estimates
"Demonstrated experience of producing alternative solution proposals, highlighting pros and cons of each with appropriate recommendations
"Architectural experience in product/cross product technology strategy and architectural design
"The ability to quickly understand and incorporate new/emergent technologies into the overall architecture

Skills and Abilities:

"Demonstrated personal leadership experience in large organisations
"Strong inter-personal and communication skills including written, verbal and presentation
"Capable of providing thought leadership and abstract thinking
Education:
"Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field
"Relevant Accreditations within the Information Technology field
