JOB SUMMARY
To provide inspirational operational management and leadership to the team,ensuring effective implementation, and on going delivery, of Trust pathways and Protocols. To lead on recruitment and supervision of staff within the team,
establishment and monitoring of policies and procedures .and liaison with a range of stakeholders including commissioners.
To provide management and leadership in order that the team can deliver safe and effective high quality compassionate services. To operate within the available resources, and to achieve required targets. The post holder will work in partnership with the clinical lead, Pathway leads, Service Manager and other senior staff to establish effective multi-disciplinary working within the team and wider service.The post holder will be required to undertake the required clinical work to maintain registration with their governing body.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
To provide comprehensive assessment of mental health specific to needs of service area.
To be able to communicate with and meet the needs of families and carers as appropriate to the care group and the individual client.
To have experience of and specialist knowledge on interventions to be able to lead in clinical area.
To receive management supervision from Service Manager or equivalent.
To demonstrate excellent communication skills.
To work in partnership with other agencies to gain the best person centered outcomes for the individual.
Practice Development , including professional development of others
To ensure all staff are participating in Trust appraisal, objective and review process
Ensure all staff in team receive appropriate supervision, liaising with professional leads as required
Ensure staff are accessing and complying with Trust Mandatory training
To manage and supervise other members of the team.
To chair meetings and provide cover for the Service Manager as needed.
To support registered staff and students through preceptorship/mentorship.

Service Specific
To provide leadership within the team, working with relevant professional and pathway leads and Service Managers for the planning and delivering of the service and wider service.
To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and within current quality initiatives within the area of work.

Process of staff.

To be aware of Trust policies and protocols.
To develop and maintain in the delivery of a supervision for team members.
To monitor the caseload in team ensuing adherence to trust Pathways and protocols.
To ensure staff within team are compliant with regulatory bodies.
Deputise for Service Managers for specified absence periods
Ensuring the identification, recording and use of relevant performance data
The post holder will work collaboratively with all disciplines as part of a multidisciplinary team to assure a high standard of care for patients/clients and their relatives/carers, working collaboratively to resolve issues.
Uses knowledge of business and management principles and strategies for the promotion of quality developments and efficient use of resources
Promotes accountability for practice and strives to attain the highest standards.
Promotes and uses evidence based approaches to practice management
Interprets and uses the outcomes of care to revise and improve the quality of care delivery strategies
To ensure that services are delivered within an appropriate clinical governance framework, monitoring and evaluating standards of care, and to raise concerns with service Manager as necessary including through active use of the Risk Register.
To undertake investigations of complaints, Clinical reviews and Serious Incidents as agreed with the Service Manager, liaising with professional leads to interpret relevant professional standards
Participates in promoting quality through development of collaborative and innovative approaches to health care delivery.
The post holder will be required to undertake the required clinical work to maintain registration with their governing body.

Research and Service Evaluation
To facilitate teaching and training sessions for staff and professionals on specialist subject areas relevant to care group.
To implement and support the development of pathways and contribute to on going development of service.
To facilitate research, service evaluation and clinical audits as agreed with service manager.
To use research in practice and developing research work from ones own practice

Professional Responsibilities

Governance - including quality, standards, documentation & ethics
To ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards and to provide specialist reports relevant to practice setting.
To keep accurate and timely electronic records of each contact, using eCPA and other software programmes used by the Trust. Complete outcome measures as required.
To adhere to applicable professional Codes of Conduct, professional standards and ethics and comply with local and national standards of practice.
To contribute in the Trust and professional clinical and social care governance arrangements and quality agenda, including the setting and monitoring of practice standards.
To be aware of and work to the policies and procedures of the Trust
To apply national guidelines/ legislation relating to health and social care in mental
health service provision.
To participate in clinical and social care governance care group forums as required.
To ensure performance targets and standards are met.
To complete clinical outcome measures as required e.g. HoNOS.
To ensure that professional standards of practice are maintained amongst all staff.
To seek and attend monthly clinical and managerial supervision.
Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults - To promote and safeguard the welfare
of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines.
Incident reporting - To report any incidents of harm or near miss in line with the Trust's incident reporting policy ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce the risk of reoccurrence
To contribute to the identification, management and reduction of risk in the area of responsibility
To ensure day to day practice reflects the highest standards of governance, clinical effectiveness, safety and patient experience.
