£28,961 - £45,162
FULL TIME - 37 HOURS PER WEEK
MONDAY - FRIDAY (SOME EVENING & WEEKENDS REQUIRED)
FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL 30TH SEPTEMBER 2014

A dedicated team of professional and experienced staff is required to manage the coordination of street works in line with the requirements of the New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991 and Traffic Management Act 2004. The new team require a Team Leader, two Streetworks Inspectors and a Streetworks Officer to managing the electronic applications for Permits to work on the public Highway. The successful Team Leader applicants will be responsible for overall management the public highway network throughout Southend-on-Sea and ensure that contractors are only allowed to work on the public highway with prior agreement via a valid Permit and will also ensure that they adhere to any conditions that are associated with their Permit. They will manage the day to day running of the team, be responsible for staffing arrangements, contract management etc. The Streetworks Inspectors applicants will be responsible for site inspections in line with the requirements of the NRSWA and the TMA, ensuring that valid Permits are held by those carrying activities on the public highway that require Permits and also enforce adherence to Permit conditions. They will need to have experience of street works inspections and enforcement issues. The Streetworks Officer will assist in the daily operation of the associated computer systems and monitor all applications for Permits and respond to enquiries. They will need to have excellent communication skills, and IT literacy.
